Flying into Lisbon Upon arrival. Pick up your car from Europcar car-hire desk at Lisbon Airport and drive downtown the historic centre of Lisbon and stay at The One Palacio da Anunciada for 2 nights. Lisbon is a must to visit with its World Heritage monuments and medieval quarters. Suggest a walk through the narrow streets of the old district of Alfama coming downtown (Baixa) along the most important squares of Lisbon and feel the atmosphere of this “old ” historical town. Also recommend a visit to the most historic site as the quarter of Belém, admire the Tower of Belem and Jerónimos Monastery. In one evening, enjoy a unique experience in a local Fado restaurant in Lisbon, including a dinner with drinks. While in Lisbon don’t lose the chance of visiting the romantic Sintra area with its unique Palaces, on top of one of Sintra’s hills is the Romanticism of the 19th century, Pena Palace. On the way back to Lisbon pass by Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe and the seaside coast, Estoril and Cascais (the Portuguese Riviera).

Driving to the South, through the Coast, the most south westerly village in the Algarve region, overlooking the deep Atlantic Ocean, the Village of Sagres with an important historical and maritime significance, from where 500 years ago, Prince D. Henrique`s caravels left to look for news countries you will stay 2 nights in Pousada do Infante in Sagres and you will learn more about Portugal discoveries. While you are staying in the Algarve region you have included a visit to a wine producer and cellar, “Quinta dos Vales” in Estombar, including taste of 4 different wines (77 km from Sagres). Between Sagres and Quinta dos Vales winery recommended visits: Monchique – a SPA town with Roman origins; Silves – an extremely old town that was the capital of the Algarve for many centuries; Lagos – a town with a well-preserved heritage.

Driving north to the centre of Alentejo region, region known for its wide open spaces, where can see the extensive farms in the centre of Alentejo is Évora, a museum town retaining much of its medieval and Moorish charm now a Unesco World Heritage and some of the sights not to be missed are the Giraldo square, the Roman Temple, the 12 th century Cathedral and the São Francisco Church, one of the most important Gothic Manueline monuments in the area and which houses the famous Chapel of the Bones. In Reguengos de Monsaraz (44 km) you will have a wine and gastronomic experience visiting the “Herdade do Esporão” wine cellar and vineyard, including taste of 3 wines and have a degustation lunch with wine pairing at the local restaurant, a chance to taste the delicious Alentejo cuisine On your way to Évora visit: Alvito – with its 15th century Manueline castle; Other recommended visits: Monsaraz – the fortified town, one of the most typical medieval towns in the Alentejo, totally surrounded by walls. Vila Viçosa – with a magnificent ducal Palace, this served as a summer residence for the last kings of Portugal. Estremoz – the medieval Estremoz surrounded by 17th century fortifications.
Overnight: Pousada dos Loios in Évora (2 nights)
Drive to the Blue Coast located on the South bank of the river Tagus direction to Palmela to overnight in a medieval castle converted in a Pousada, Pousada of Palmela, its hilltop setting offers breathtaking panoramic views of the magnificent Natural Park of Arrabida and in the south the river Sado’s course over the bay, as it flows to find the Atlantic. Visit the historic centre of Palmela, start your tour at S. Pedro church with beautiful Baroque tile that covers the walls and continue to explore the city, continue nearby Setúbal, with its beautiful pedestrian streets and gardens. The Igreja de Jesus is a remarkable Gothic church with interior columns carved in Arrábida pink stone from the nearby quarry. In Azeitão, it included visit to wine cellar of “José Maria da Fonseca” wine producer with tasting of 3 different wines.
