Tallinn sightseeing – Lahemaa National Park – Tallinn (Approx. overall driving time today is 3 hours) After breakfast meet your local guide for a sightseeing tour of Tallinn. visiting notable sites including Kadriorg Park and Palace, and the Russalka Monument. Explore both the medieval upper city and also the lower city on foot. After lunch at your own leisure (own expense), we head out of the city and to picturesque Lahemaa National Park where you can enjoy a 4 km boardwalk across this natural marshland. Along the walk there is a viewing tower where you can get a great birds eye view of this remarkable landscape. Tallinn – Parnu – Saulkrasti – Riga (Approx. overall driving time is 4 hours) This morning enjoy some time at leisure to continue to explore the charming old city of Tallinn. This afternoon journey south to Parnu (driver only from Tallinn to Riga), a seaside town of Estonia notable for its wild beaches and here you will be able to have a stroll on the sandy expanse. Continue along the Baltic Sea coast eventually entering into Latvia. if time allows we can also break the journey at the natural dunes of Saulkrasti before finally in Riga by late afternoon and check in to your centrally located hotel. Riga – Ragaciems – Jurmala – Riga (Approx. overall driving time today is 2 hours) This morning, enjoy the prominent sights of Riga with a local guide. Visits will include the fascinating architecture of the Art Nouveau district and its fascinating museum before moving to explore key areas of the old town. From Riga, continue a short distance to the authentic Baltic fishing village of Ragaciems and observe the old wooden fishing huts built to store nets. You may have the chance to chat with local fishermen. The next stop is Lake Kanieris, a body of water which is important for both geological and ecological diversity. Stroll on the boardwalk enjoying the nature and visit the bird-watching tower. Finally today, visit the summer resort of Jurmala where the sands once attracted Soviet leaders on their holidays. A highlight here are the old pastel coloured and very charming authentic wooden holiday houses. If time allows, take a refreshing walk on the wide sandy beach taking in the Baltic sea air. Riga – Gauja National Park – Sigulda – Riga (Approx. overall driving time today is 3 hours) Firstly take an atmospheric stroll in Riga’s bustling central market in a unique Zeppelin hangar structure dating from the 1920’s. Fresh produce and a myriad of arts and crafts are on display. Continue inland to the verdant valleys of Gauja River National Park. Marvel at the skills and workmanship of a master amber craftsman in his workshop and observe the family collection. Visit the medieval castle of Turaida, Gutman’s Cave and Sigulda Castle’s ruins before returning to Riga Overnight Riga
Riga – Hill of Crosses – Vilnius (Approx. overall driving time today is 5 hours) Continue your Baltic journey south crossing into Lithuania. Shortly over the border, visit the remarkable Hill of Crosses whose origins lie in the 1831 and 1863 uprising against the Russian Empire. The number of crosses placed here over the years now numbers well over 100,000 and is a sight to behold. After lunch (own expense), continue to Vilnius (driver only) and check-in to your hotel. After breakfast, explore the key sites of the city of Vilnius with a local guide. Highlights include Peter and Paul Church, the charming streets of the Old Town including Cathedral Square, Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Castle and Tower, Gediminas Statue and Saint Anne’s Church. Take the walk up Subacius Hill for excellent views across Vilnius and visit Dawn Gate, one of the most iconic symbols of Vilnius. Later, take the short journey from Vilnius to Trakai Castle, a fairy-tale medieval castle located on a small island on picturesque Lake Galve.
